Network for Egalitarian and Humanistic Insight (NEHI)

The growing interdependence of the people of the world and the collective voice in favor of global interests demand a deeper and broader socio-cultural awareness. Given the fact that nobody is supposed to disown her/his own socio-cultural identity; healthy intercultural understanding and dialogue have become a prerequisite to instill a clear perspective of unity in diversity and to boost a sense of global peace and harmony and mutual respect and tolerance. It is with this perspective NEHI endeavors to promote socio-cultural awareness among the citizens of the world.

NEHI was mainly conceptualized in 1996-97 for encouraging people's active participation in the developmental process and disseminating awareness among people mainly on the following themes at both local and global level.

(1) Gender Issues
(2) Education
(3) Youth
(4) Intercultural Understanding
(5) Environmental Issues

It aimed to connect people, organizations, institutions and movements who wanted to share and disseminate their concerns and experiences and ready to act collectively to take society on the path of progress. But it did not take a concrete shape and grew mainly due to the poverty of responsible and committed people. It remained alive mainly in some of the documents prepared for the purpose of the dissemination and in my mind. It was finally decided not to even get it registered until there would be enough people around who agree to its basic ideas and ready to act. Some of the drafts in this site have also been prepared from this point of view. Some of the write-ups got lost in the last ten years or so in the decades long fight for many crucial issues. Some of the remaining excerpts are arranged here under different heading.
