Orissa Cyclone: We found in Churamani most of the people in dire need of roof, food and cloths, no fresh water to drink, some tube-wells partially submerged in the flood water. All schedule caste, and most probably without any representative even at the block level, although Bhadrak a reserved constituency. It was a village of about 120 houses, but we found only a couple of them intact and rest like piles of mud. It was 7 p.m. and dark. We talked to some of the people and came back.
Gujarat Earthquake and Emergency Planning: The planet Earth has a complex system. No doubt we have increased our understanding of the globe a lot in the past centuries. Still our understanding regarding the globe it's atmospheric and interior dynamics and their causes are very limited. Situations like flood, epidemic, drought, earthquake, cyclone, tornado, hurricane, landslide, volcanic eruption, wild fire etc. suddenly effect and become threat for the natural sustainability of biotic and abiotic resources of the blue planet. Minimizing the damage of the affected area and creating an environment where people live in proper harmony with nature need a collective endeavor.
The Higher Education System vis-a-vis the Other Systems of Society: The common challenges grave and formidable and which do not distinguish between systems and are all-pervasive, are placed aside by the teachers of the system as if the present and the immediate have somehow swallowed the Future. Gone were the phases of hard struggle to search and identify the challenges. Now they themselves glare horribly and challenge the whole world. Somewhere the threats are grave and somewhere they are not felt as such. All the challenges demand an unprecedented change in the attitude of leading and well-informed systems. It is the time that the common values and feeling that these systems live with must necessarily be reflected through their actions.
Visible Forces Matter Most for Localization, Nationalization, Regionalization or Globalization: Energy and permanent positum not only have survived, but almost always have kept themselves on the top of the need hierarchy of any dead or alive civilization. They have always enjoyed their share of key spaces in the physical world, but unlike the tendency of energy to attain the state of maximum entropy, the posity have wonderfully succeeded in spreading maximum entropy in any such civilization. In fact, nothing appeared more durable within the transition phase from the Big-Bang to the Big-Crunch than a permanent positum.
The University System under the Fourth Dimension: The University system, through its elected and selected members, has succeeded in projecting that it itself wants to meet the target of 180 teaching days in an academic year. Its almost all the decisive modules have collectively resolved to reintroduce six day teaching schedule in a week. The excessive sense of self responsibility and accountability has suddenly started emanating out all around and the hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, who represents the University system, is zooming into the lenses of media and thereby spiking the brain of people through their innocent senses.
Organizational Dynamics under the Fourth Dimension: “Over security and work withdrawal” is a “no turn up and no turn over” situation. There prevails no external constraint or compulsion to turn up and no external constraint or compulsion to turn over. Free Will dominates. The turn up is contingent only on the social and psychological level of attachment to the profession and the organization. The level of attachment is negligible near the level of attachment and desire of free, easy and secured life in the contemporary world. Absenteeism does not cause any threat to jobs, neither there are better options open around which can tolerate such a level of unaccountability and can be a pull factor for the turn over to take place. With the advent of liberalization and privatization many other jobs and venues are opening up and many of them demand only a little share of the fourth dimension and are easily accommodated since the permanency is not going to be challenged just because of work withdrawal in a government or government supported system. In case any such threat to job arises, many trade unions and political wings are right there to provide over-security under the aegis of professional unity, human dignity and human values like omni-quoted terminologies. Here pay is mostly prior to work.
The Fourth Dimensional Laws and Ethics: An administration without the fourth dimensional ethics is bound to meet failure. It is because an administration without the fourth dimensional ethics is an administration without much of profession in it. A profession without professional ethics is not a profession at all. The fourth dimensional ethics is the backbone of socialism, nationalism, communism and egalitarianism. Only those who follow the fourth dimensional ethics set by a system are the socialists, nationalists or communists and those who do not, are never. How many out of billions are socialists, nationalists or communists; is a big question.
Some of the Highly Context Sensitive Statements Communicated during 2001 to 2004: "If the higher education is customarily construed as mere profession for profession sake by the South Asian academicians/educationists, they will be construed as old fools sitting in their specialized cocoons for themselves by the generations to come."
